This Ed Emberley monograph is a great tribute to a talented artist, as well as a trip back in time to my childhood. I eventually grew up to be an art director and book author myself, and I owe some of that to the beautiful books Ed Emberley did in the 1960s and 1970s. It's so nice to be able to see a wider range of his work, collected for the first time in this book, as well as re-visiting some classics I had forgotten about. Emberley's work shows a sureness of line and a colorful geometric language that is sometimes simple, sometimes intricate, but always enjoyable. The book is nicely produced, and although some images were scanned from printed sources, the quality holds up pretty well. The text is very insightful and makes one feel as if they are visiting the Emberley home studio, which seems by all counts to be a magical and cozy place to be.
